Last time I wrote that I have done almost all things that I can do in SL, but someone advised that I have not done animations. Sure there are many cool machinimas in contests by LEA or UWA along themes with social meaning, science fiction or fantasy utilizing SL special functions.

But I went in for photographs in RL but am not good at motion pictures. I have used video camera only for checking my tennis swing. I love to watch them though and I watch YouTube often. Some of them are good in picture qualities. I save favorite URLs now there are about 1500 items in my list. I cannot possibly do the same way, so I hands off. Among them, let me introduce one. Please look at the URL below for the explanation about Mandelbrot.

The Mandelbrot set is the set of complex numbers Z(n+1)=Zn^2+C that does not approach infinity. There is a free soft to generate this figure in the URL below. It is possible to zoom any place you want. The zoom speed and iteration can be controlled by arrow keys. My PC can display up to about 600 iterations that reaches 10^17 that was roughly measured by a scale.

The colors show the calculation cycle needed to judge if the number approaches infinity or not. Where to look at and how to set the colors will be the key to make it as an art. The motion picture I would like to introduce is “2010 Mandelbrot Odyssey”, that shows nice matching with the music. If you feel dizzy, please jump to the end. Sorry that this article is not related to SL, but this could be another kind of virtual world.
