From Japan to SL

In the early years I took some SSs with name tags to memorize names, but together with established relations, it was reduced. It might be better to have taken more ones with name tag at various situation. I took mainly those of show audiences, which I thought to be something useful for the show organizer who kindly allowed me to shoot pictures.

This is the Easter festival at Venice SIM in August 2013. The main event was a piano concert by Rulie Cisse. The site was a special stage in the Palazzo Ducale in the St. Marcos Square. A beautiful piano performance with light and particles. Rulie has been performing nice concert since then.

The performance of the TEAM ASH in May 2013. There were many friends who kindly let me take pictures, but it might not cover to shoot audiences…




January 2014, a concert by the group INSUMMER. There were many friends at Baba among the related persons and many names I knew. There are about 50 avatars that are close to the limit. Recently the SIM capacity for PRIMs was increased from 15000 to 30000 and avatar number is 100, but the practical limit is said to be around 60. In some large events, three SIMs were used for spectator's seats, but it may be rare to see this in one room.




July 2014, a performance by Maihime, which provided gorgeous shows every time and allowed me to take pictures. I took many for my blog, together with other groups, TEAM ASH, Elegante Sereia, Mangekyo, and BBOY-DAN.

I took many pictures of my favorite show groups. I got an approval every time (together with substantial tip^-^), but one day I was refused to shoot by a new show group. I realized that someone may not like to be shot from unintended angles, so I became hesitant to shoot a show, and stopped it since then. Partly because I did not have money anymore to go show since I lost jobs.






  

It is exciting just to see nine members sitting tight in line. In the synchronized dance, even small hand objects were set in position. Many practices and confirmations can be imagined.




Wonderful movement matching the contents of music. I was drinking in it without wasting time to move camera. It is impossible to depict the dance through frozen frame, but please imagine the dynamic line dace.












Quick change to Japanese drams. Elaborated stick works line those of Secret Drum. Air drums could be a good idea since Japanese drums are mainly not for rhythm but for performance of body movement.

Viewed August performance of BBOY-DAN that was at a special stage set at the side of the pool of Café Orion.




The opening show was by beautiful girls. BBOY-DAN was a group of daddy-longlegs, wasn’t it?




An interesting trick to use three avatars in turn for a solo performance. The name tags of avatars not used were vanished. How was he jumping from one to another?




The stage set of BBOY-DAN is simple but effective that is easy to shoot.




Now came the expected handsome guys^-^




Cool solo dance, this is the character of BBOY-DAN.




Stage garment was changed at the site swiftly. This prajna also changed instantly surprisingly.




The title of this show was a showcase, so there were many kinds of dances. The main program was done by all nine members to make overwhelming synchronized dances. That will be reported next time.

  

Viewed the first performance of this year of Elegate Sereia. The stage is on the seashore fitting mermaids. There were fireworks, and also kingyo (goldfish) together with ningyo (mermaid).




The clothing not constrained by the concept of mermaid was cool as usual. Being rude to shoot from beneath but it could be OK since they are fish…




Within limited movements of mermaid that do not allow steps, the flowing shape was beautiful.




As usual, sorry for the camera not following the recommended position. Please enjoy some angles that you did not see at the show^-^




Sometimes I changed the lighting. Mermaid show often fits the sunrise setting.




Unfortunately my PC was not good in showing well the dark clothing. It did not work even with the sunset or midday settings.




The clothing was emphasized with Photoshop. May be overdone a bit…




The contrast was enhanced considerably on this one too. Since it cannot be done during the show, I had to view the beautiful clothing afterward.



This time also “recommended camera position” was provided. Mere personal opinion but this could be the same feeling as photo galleries. Someone said, “There is no meaning in galleries in SL since pictures can be seen enough in flickers or blogs”. Surely they are easy to see and the quality is better than in-world. But someone said, “The difference is to be able to move around to watch them in SL gallery”. The gallery itself could be a part of presentation. I am providing both of them (even for my complacence). Viewed summer performance of Team ASH. The back ground, Mt. Fuji and Ocean Waves was a nostalgic one that was used by Maihime performance in December 2009 at Edo.




The spectators’ seats were swings in the air. I was afraid that it is hard to view but camera position and angle were controlled by the show.




The camera position was set and no zoom or panning possible, it seemed to be watching machinima. The narrator said “Beautiful like a movie” but a show in SL that enables to view three dimensionally could be different in nature than movies. In a show in RL. It is also possible to use opera glasses to watch faces or clothing, and it is joy to find a cute guy among back dancers^-^
Personally I prefer to move camera freely that is only possible in SL. It cannot call a captured frame from machinima as a photograph^-^




This is a story about a girl breaking out from a painting.




A beautiful girl who has some mysterious atmosphere within the pristine appearance. I often sneaked out from the restraint camera to peek at.




A lad who would like to keep the beauty of the girl forever as it is…




But the girl went back into the painting with seizing the heart of the lad.




The last program was a solo dance by Kai. For a change the back dancers were mermaids. The stage was set apart from the audience seats, so it is easy to get lost if the camera was detached.




Kai is always cool! Thank you for the beautiful show! Partly because of the camera restraint, I did not take many pictures enough to do photo exhibition. I hope the camera movement was not prohibited, I am looking forward to take another chance.

More than fifty audiences. The seats of bamboo leaf were full and some were in the air. It was a bit sad experience to watch a person who I loved before came with his wife…




This time the theme was stories related to constellations. Stage installations changing together with music were cool as usual.




Also the narration voice was sweet, but please include them in text chat so that they can be reviewed later.




Particles were beautiful too. These were outwelling from hand. Many paper planes flew toward us in other scene.

Viewed the 71st performance of Mangekyo. This time the site was a special stage set in front of the Offshore-base Atmosphere Observatory of Abyss Observatory. This observatory is a reproduction of the real one that studies atmospheric process through Doppler radar, wind profiler, GPS receiver, and other facilities. The full spectator’s seats and stage were temporary and do not exist now.

The sea where the observatory is set is an artificial sea that was set up in the sky at 3500m high. That is the work by an artist Comet Morigi and said to be the most beautiful in SL as a sky and sea set in the sky. The entrance of Abys is the follow LM. The birth and growth of the earth and life are beautifully presented in the space expanding up to 3500m high. Copious guided tour will be provided occasionally.

The show consisted of eight pieces. Great flamboyant cloths by Curea were beautiful, but there was no change of clothes and I did not take so many pictures.




One of the beautiful characteristics of dresses by Curea is ribbons with well-adjusted flexibility. The ribbon seemed to be the main theme this time.




Top right is Curea the principal. Top left is Alha the big sister, a bit intimidating^-^




Beautiful flow of the ribbons but the dances might not be designed for ribbon movement and it was hard to capture the quick move.




The last with lightning.




Top view. The stage was simple but well fit the sea. Mangekyo is always good in blending with the surroundings.

Viewed the spring performance by Milky Maihime, The Tale of the Bamboo-Cutter and the Moon Princes. I have not read full text of the original story that can be read in the above.

So attractive even at the moment of birth. It is natural that many princesses were fascinated.




Transformed to a beautiful princes in just about no time. In the original story, it took only there months from an infant of height of 9cm to an adult.




This show did not use quick stage changes but a bamboo boat moving between stages. This is an act where men were asking for hand in front of gorgeous house of the whitebeard who became rich with gold that was found in the bamboo bush.




Audiences were sitting in a small area so it was easy to shoot all of them. Some found difficulty to find sitting space and someone stood up and dropped although it was told not to stand up.




Gorgeous room that reminds me of the inner palace of the castle at Edo. It is creating an atmosphere within the limited space.

The bamboo boat did not face toward the stage, so it was necessary to move camera. Some one did not know it and said she was not able to see the stage. I also almost missed the mission coming in without someone said “Look left!”




Another idea than the bamboo boat was to change clothing on the set within blowing out particles. It was quick and could end up with gray mess in a heavy SIM, but it was cut it beautifully. The final act, dance together with the mission. It was a bit disappointing that the faint love with the emperor was not included in this show, and the ending that he burnt the immortal medicine which the princes gave him.




The princes was banished to the earth due to her sin. In this show, the sin was “an attempt to be special person by herself”. Since the sin was expiated, the whole agony at the place of exile will be cleared and forgot, but could the life on the earth be rather happy memories? The show ended with the theme that I did not notice when reading the original. Thank you Milky Maihime for the wonderful images!

  

I have not done skiing this year, so I visited the forest of Totoro. The flower garden is in full bloom but there is plenty of snow on the hill behind.

There is neither lift nor wide slope, but it is joy to make short turns in a small area. In season nobody cares for photo shooting while racing around but at the end of season we see that there will be no further improvement this year, and can enjoy shooting.




It is happy to find a little longer slope. It is easy to ski on a spring snow since the ski does not sink and the edges work well.




The stained snow does not slide well, but I glided down leusyrely without using poles.




To walk all the way to a spot where snow ends is also spring skiing. It is also spring to worry about snow when watching cherry blossom on the way to the ski resort.

Before the curtain. Secret filming as usual, warming up at back stage. It is good to check the characters beforehand in order to shoot good pictures….defensively.




As usual, ASH performance has a story.

This is a story about a duke who lost his young wife and can do nothing but remembering the beloved wife. He has spent restless nights one day after another ruining down his mind and body.
One night, he dozed off unusually. The clock hit the midnight, he noticed something magical.




A rabbit and spirits of cards alike ones from Alice’s wonderland wake him up. There is the dead wife. But after a transient joy, they are parted and put in cages as if a game of the rabbit.




While the rabbit taking rest after sufficient play, they hugged and danced together, but it was a fleeting dream and the wife died away from the arms of the duke.




Lingering on, the curtain went down and audiences got left behind with emotion. The music and smooth movement of dancing were wonderful! Composition of ASH is always fresh and fantastic.




Dramatically changed, the second program was with joyful Christmas atmosphere.




The program by Suzu1206 is always a bit different. This time the stage set was elaborated but it was too bad that the dance was not seen clearly.




This was also new to ASH programs, a Japanese style set. Solo dancing tends to come off second to stage sets. The giant avatar will not do but it could be nice to have an avatar for solo dancing with a height of 5m or so.




The finale was for the Kai the dance master. Keeping in tune of tripping music of ‘Take 5’, he seemed to be a snappy phantom thief.
