Chernobyl 30

Today April 26 is the 30th anniversary of the tragedy of Chernobyl. This is Everwinter, a post-apocalyptic SIM created by Lauren Bentham. This SIM was inspired by the abandoned amusement park in the City of Pripyat Ukraine situated near the plant.
“Everwinter”, Post Apocalyptic Theme Park: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Elven%20Mist/236/117/25

Explanation in Wikipedia: The park was to be opened on May 1, 1986 in time for the May Day celebrations (decorations for this event are still in place in Pripyat today) but the plans were interrupted when on April 26 the Chernobyl disaster occurred a few kilometers away. Today, the park, and in particular the Ferris wheel are a symbol of the Chernobyl disaster.

The terrible situation was that the Park was opened for a couple of hours on April 27 to keep the city people entertained before the announcement to evacuate the city was made. What did they see and sensate on the Ferris wheel on the next day of the disaster? At that time the danger of radioactivity had not been widely recognized and persons at work or fire control did not wear any protective clothing. At that time protective gear for radioactivity itself might not exist in the world.

This is a real picture of Pripyat on Wikipedia. It is said that more than a few hundred years should pass until it becomes possible to reside there. They say several hundred thousand people died due to the accident. But should it be concluded that no more nuclear plant because of this? There is a certain probability to have airplane accident causing tragedy but airplanes have not been prohibited. To what extent should the accident probability and projected damage be lowered until we can start to use nuclear plant? Above all, Fukushima was “unexpected circumstances” and Kumamoto was “the first one in record history”. So how can we calculate the accident probability? It is theoretically impossible to say absolutely safe. I think nuclear power plants should be stopped immediately until everybody accept the actual damage probability that should not be zero.

Lakeland

“There are many beautiful spots in SL.” This is an introduction of “The world of Yana”, nice page that I have been watching. This is also one of the cool worlds introduced in the page, Netherwood made by Lauren Behtham. She said this SIM was made imaging Lakeland in England where she lives
Netherwood: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Netherfeild/32/115/23

There are more than 50 creators of the objects used here, but various elements are very well matched. She said that this project was not a corporative work but was done alone by herself gathering many objects that were searched spending long time. She said this SIM is new and will be up-dated if better items come out. She has made other six SIMs already.

The Lake District is in the northwest of UK and the most popular national park, and every year some 15 million people are visiting there. Beatrix Potter, author of Peter Rabbit lived there, and many authors and poets found inspiration here.
Happy little time, finishing preparation for a dinner, just leisurely waiting for my partner coming back. This place provides such a realistic blissful moment… Sure there might be this kind of life.

The next door neighbor is on the other side of a brook. They seem to be a bit wealthier than us, but the amount of happiness is the same. Next I will visit another Lauren’s SIM.

Lauren has been engaged in object-creation since the start of SL, so I asked her how the future of SL might be.
“I think second life still has a good future, so many people have invested so much time and money into this world it would be hard just to walk away and start a fresh, although linden lab are currently working on a new virtual world at the moment named Project Sansar…”
The SL2, Sansar under development seems not to be connected to current SL. It seems that substantial expense will be required for startup. Different from the initial SL world that is a virtual world with “SL-like characters”, now realistic and beautiful 3D world is available. Is it necessary or possible to deveop further technology although to stand still might be to die in slow. The game Final Fantasy XV is advertised as “Enjoyable even for a newcomer to FF series”. I think it may be important to attract new players who will start SL from now to this beautiful world.

Cool Wallpaper

It is popular to set wall papers around SL house, but I think this one is the best of them. Kanzakiasuka made a nice sky-stage using this.

It is an article sold as Virtual Reality Room that includes more than one hundred different scenes sold separately. Today there are many realistic beautiful 3D sceneries but a good point of wall paper is it can be changed to new ones anytime.

Although this is a wall paper, it covers left/right and up/down all six surfaces around you without noticeable seams. If the stage is transparent, the ground surface will be continued seamlessly. The stage of the top picture was made transpalent using photoshop. It was possible to shoot your favorite sceneries for this using a special kit.

The largest one covers an area of 110m to 110m and it is possible to walk around or build houses inside. The options of the scenery covers forest, lake, desert, cityscape, everything. I bought a middle one but it was too large for my land, and changed to a smaller one but still it required some margin to the SIM boarder. So I have been waiting for a chance to use them, but the shop had been closed. Kanzakiasuka kindly let me put it on his land.

Aside from this, Temi’s Gallery is exhibiting pictures of CPR on the second floor until end of April. Please drop in.

CPR 2

The texture of my gallery and the pictures were renewed. Following with the previous one, the theme is CPR again. Last time there were not so many guests visited my gallery. I thought the pictures were beautiful… Someone said that they are not CPR but lesbian. This time they are more practical ones.

These pictures are animation balls that had been set at the gallery. Regretfully it seems nobody used them. The relative position was set for us, so you might feel out of position if used. They have been removed.

The eyes were open in this animation ball, so I used closed-eye-prims.

In RL, there is a person who kindly perform this when I am playing dead. Closed nose between two fingers, soft lips covering my widely opened mouth, and warm air coming in. Without moving chest by myself, my breath will not seize… This cannot be experienced in SL.

Cardiac massage is also included in this animation but the hands sink into the chest, getting a broken rib-bone.

Most of pictures at the gallery are from internet in real life. Instead of avatars, cute models including a small girl are playing the motionless patient role. I feel a bit excited by imaging the feeling of them ^-^
