Mars

Surface is similar to the Mars I saw at the NASA SIM. Unfortunately these mountais are three-dimensional background that I cannot enter.

The light setting at the site is rather dark. Could be because of the distance from the sun.

Adjusted the sun position to get some feeling. Sorry for the creator.

Noticed a familiar creature that I saw at the planet Pandora.

Terraforming seems to have been achieved to some extent and space suit is not required. The temperature and ambient pressure are understandable, but the Japanese letters are ‘corpus’ and ’47 samurai’

It is said that corporations fight over Mars, wanting control of the resources and potential. Battles have been fought over the territories, artillery set up on the flanks of Olympus Mons.

There are several bases on the Mars. I will visit them next time.

INSILICO 2

Residential areas are off limits but most places are free to enter. A hall like a hotel lobby.

Flood of shaped forms not relying on textures are cool.

Chinatowns are seen in any place in the world. To see it also in a future city is joyful or fearful

There was such an atmosphere like a Chinatown in a movie Blade runner. There is a raining area here too.

A club named Fusion in the downtown with elegant design that fits in the surrounding buildings. It is said that there are more than 1.000 RPG members here, but I seldom see them may be due to the time difference.

A small deck for airborne machines. It seems that not so many peoples are using this since the transit system is well developed.

Space port. Space remains largely unexplored. Small collecting operations lie scattered about, a gas on the dark side of Mercury, red-dusted silicate on Mars, sulfide of Io, nitrogen-ice of Pluto. These are almost all autonomous, mankind mostly only risking so far as Mars.
It can be seen that these SIMs were elaborately crafted by watching this only. There are more structures like this spread over the four SIMs. I think this is the most sophisticated area that I have ever seen in SL. The transit system reaches Mars providing instant TP. Next time I will explore Mars.

INSILICO

Visited INSILICO, a RPG SIM of future world. At the first glance it looks messy but there are many wonderful worlds within it.

There are four SIMs including several sky stages and it is a big job to see all of them. They were not made of repetitive structures but independent areas that were finely made respectively with unified image.

It is the year 2483. The planet lies broken and dying. INSILICO is a dark futuristic metropolis, slowly floating thousands of meters high above the surface. It is one of many cities, serving as the last airborne asylums for the small extant human population that has been forced there. The transportation is in the air and transit systems. There are many terminals like this in the city. Touch the board named Transit System and select a destination to TP. More than fifty points are available.

The desolate terrain is cast into shadow, massive swaths of darkness punctuated by the occasional glare of unobstructed UV. Raw materials are the only reason to return back down to our old home, collected by the corporations in tightly sealed and monitored mining operations.

This could be a ruin of a machine for artificial cultivation that can be seen in the city in the air.

Built over 150 years ago, INSILICO is the oldest airborne city. It is so huge that the camera cannot be pulled back further. There is no base plate in this city, so you will fall if you stray away at some area.

The central shopping area. This area alone can be equal to a small normal town. Although this is a stage for a RPG, visitors are not required to wear a special tag. Anyone may visit Insilico freely, including those character types that aren't otherwise permitted to engage in the RP, but child avatars are not allowed. Do not interfere with people currently engaged in RP, but if role players enter an area that you are in, you do not need to leave. IM is recommended between visitors. Next time, I will stroll around the city.

Good Bye Totoro's Forest

The Bigtotoro’s SIMs since the era of Yakitori-shop Kikyo will be closed as of June end. Beautiful sceneries were prepared for each season. Now there is a wisteria trellis.
Totoro's blog: http://mat0630.slmame.com/

It was a healing SIMs with playful mind in a calm surroundings that made me feel at peace every time I came here.

A rice paddy and a primary school which might be the one at the country in 1950s.

The school with one room for one grade each looks to be modified recently. Among the timeless things, there were several detailed changes.

I love the snowscape most. One of the SIMs was always with snow. Thank you Bigtotoro for the beautiful SIMs for a long period. Please come to Baba again. The followings are my previous articles regarding Totoro’s forest. The end picture in the second one is a rare one with Totoros in mermaid dance.

Popular SIM?

I noticed that the Tempura Island was included in an article, “Top 10 popular SIMs”, so I visited the listed ones. Since the article was three years ago, five out of ten were impossible to visit now. This is the second one, London. That is different from the London SIM that I visited before where my first crush had a shop.

What they had in common was heaviness. This London was gray for a while.

This is one of the ten. It seems that there is nothing special but there are many visitors. What is a popular SIM? Could be beautiful, gathering many people, games, or some special setting? The second one, many people could be either the cause or the result. The Yakitori shop Kikyou that had more than 800 group members and 10 to 20 companies every day had nothing than “people”. There should be something at Tempura that keeps so many guests for six years.

Special setting could be shop, event, membership club, RPG, or nudist beach etc. I read an article, 70% of SL players tend to stay at one place and do not walk around. A blunderer like me might be minority…
