Campingcar Anywhere

There are two types in vehicles, to Rez and to wear. Recently it seems that the Rez-type is popular, but it can be worn too. This is at the usual meeting area where it is not possible to Rez, but OK for wearing.

At the Linden Casino. Since this is connected to the sandbox, it is possible to drive up here but this was worn. It is necessary to pick up some pose and edit the vehicle, but it is hard to get suitable posture to match both the pose and the surroundings. In the above case, firstly select a pose, then adjust the wearing position of the car through “edit”, set the position with movement keys, then finally adjust the height with “hover”.

If you do not need a specific pose, it is easy to edit the car position and posture to fit the scenery. It makes it possible to set your favorite vehicle anyplace you want, with free layout and lighting.

Camping in the sea! If there is any Rez spot around, it is possible to drive under the water. But it looks strange to see puddles undersea. The drawback of the wearing type is not possible to change the pose once decided. It makes disastrous situation if you stand up from this state.

The merit is that it is possible to select any pose you like. But it is rather hard to edit the car posture to match the pose. If only for snapshots, composite photo can be used, but it does not provide the camping feeling. But the shark in this picture was moved with composite.

Another merit of the wearing type is to be able to fly as it is. I had meant to visit outer space or other planets, but did not find suitable SIMs. So, I flew over the forest of rockets at the space center. It was hard to adjust both camera angle and vehicle position at the same time, so I asked my sister to take SSs.

If the vehicle is attached to foot position, it could be used as a surfboard. But it is hard to take SSs if a moving animation is used.

I have played around with the camping car for a while, but I do not feel like auto-camping in the RL. Different from the US blessed by nature, there are few good spots in Japan except fully equipped, clouded campsites. Considering the cooking or cleaning toilet, I prefer driving all day with an open car and dining at a gorgeous restaurant in a hotel with beautiful scenery rather than camping.

Snow Drive in SL

It is still very hot, so I visited snow area in the south hemisphere. Cars in SL can be driven off road without 4WD.

Not only sliding a downhill ski runs, but also climbing up the hill.

On a deep snow. In this picture the car was set a bit lower by editing.

Can drive freely on a frozen lake, without breaking the ice.

Naturally it sinks in the unfrozen water. But it is possible to drive on the riverbed and drive up by itself.

For driving on the snow, there is a wonderful realistic game, “Snow Runner”, which has 2WD, 4WD, or Eight-wheel-drive. It simulates not only driving on the snow, but also stuck in the deep snow, fall off a cliff, and recover with crane or winch. Regarding vehicles, SL cannot compete with games.

This is not in any game! While driving on the snow road, suddenly my vehicle disappeared and I lost control. I was wearing flight attendant uniform since I took pictures at airports, but I had the same experience when I was riding in an international flight with this costume, ejected out from a plane and ended up with the same situation and the same pose which is not for driving this car. There might be some jinx in this outfit?

Forbidden Area

I visited some area that camping cars do not enter normally, only when nobody there,

There are few shopping malls that can enter with cars. This could be seen as a displayed article.

This is absolutely out of manor. The auto return is soon, and I disappear whenever anyone comes in.

This is a rare case where it is possible to Rez a car in a club. But I would not do it when anyone is there.

his type of car could be better here. Anyway, this is not a place to drive in. But it could be free Rez zone for bringing out various things providing a topic for confabulation, like the Yakitori shop Kikyo before.

There should be no problem at the Linden Welcome Center. This is a public exhibition space that nobody is using. Since Rez is not allowed here, I drove the car all the way from the sandbox.
WelcomeHub: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/WelcomeHub/109/76/25

It is possible to drive freely in the Linden Town. When I was parking in the driveway on the house shown far right to take SSs, someone came out from the house. I erased the car instantly. But there should be no private home in this public area and there was no reason to escape, but I did it by reflex action. Should not do wrong things^-^

How to Rez a Car

It is not easy to find Rez Zone for camping cars. There are several Rez Zone along the Linden public road but not so scenic. There are many Rez Zone for yachts, but they are mainly on the water, so cars sink. It is possible to move it up with Edit function, but depending on the area, it is necessary to drive it before move. otherwise, it will be returned when it goes out of the Rez Zone.

It is rather hard to edit the vehicle while driving. It may appear in a house over the water. The resident was not there, so I rudely took SS as it is in a living room.

In a kitchen. Since the SL houses are made a bit larger than real size, a camping car can be set in a room.

Also, there is some yacht club that allows to Rez on the land. It stays for a while without driving.

Auto return is normally after 20 minutes. I was able to relax here for some period.

When I had a gallery and a private pier without house, I used a cruiser as my own home. Also, once I lived in a camping trailer when I was constructing my home. Good old days.

The Longest Bridge in SL

There are many long bridges in RL, but this could be the longest in SL. A railroad bridge from Linden Welcome Center to the resident area on the other side.

4t covers 4 SIMs, 768M in overall length, 540M across the water, 37M high. Considering that the one SIM length is 256M, it is substantially long. The other side is a huge residential area. There is a small beach side town seen on the right, where most of them have residents.

The midland is a huge forest including many housings. If the camera is pulled back more, the SIM names will disappear, but 120 SIMs are shown in this picture. There are more than 600 similar SIMs in this area only, and there are more areas like this in the SL world, but neither many residents, nor community activities. I understand that Linden is going to provide housings, but how are you going to make SL?

This is the SL world around continents. The small dots are all independent SIMs.

The same in 2021. The sea between Satori and Jeogeot were landfilled to residential area.

The current map. The residential area was expanded markedly. On the contrary, the independent SIMs seem to be reduced. The newly developed continent is called Bellisseria, which was provided by Linden for a new community.

The map below is shown at the welcome center. It looks a few years old and now it is wider than this,

According to the grid status of Linden, the total SIM number had been reduced gradually, but it turned into an increase recently. Do not tell me that this is for earning achievements by the number.

Camping Car

One of the things that I have not done in RL is a camping car, so I purchased one.

The first thing, I practiced driving in front of my house. There is no seat slide, so I may need some cushion behind my back but it does not matter in SL. Different from racing cars, it is not so hard to drive with the low gear.

At the meeting area Kikyo. There are many famous cars here, Toyota 2000GT, Honda S800, Tiger, or Mercedes SSK alike.

My home is on the Linden Sea, so it is good to Rez a yacht to cruise the world, but no road to drive out. It is necessary to find Rez zone to start camping.

Res zones at the beach are mainly for yachts, so there are few spots to get a beach with car.

Although it is possible to Rez a car, if you step out of a car after moving, it will disappear with the auto return. This is Linden Sandbox, where is 4 hours until the return.

This camping car is possible to change the color. Since it is possible to copy, I made several combinations and align them in my inventory. There is almost no person here and a lot of prims available, it could be possible to set out many vehicles.

Then, there was a person really doing it! This was a correct way to use the sandbox.

North Pole

Several SIMs can be found by searching with North Pole, including shops just named so. But what are these numbers? The distance does not match and there seems to be no relation with the latitude.

Real Noth Pole. The directional sign will be true, written in km? But this could be set for tourists of “North Pole Tour” ^-^

There is an office of Santa Claus at the North Pole. Now he is sorting good and bad children watching the list.

Elves are working at the toy factory. It is cute that there is a bed room for many elves.

In the RL, Santa is at the town of Rovaniemi, Finland. More than 700,000 letters are coming to him every year from all over the world. This is a real photo of Rovaniemi, like a town in SL! Other way around, this might be the model of some villages in SL.

I searched for South Pole too, but there is none found in SL. This is the real South Pole, at the USA station.

Birds eye view of the Amundsen Scot South Pole Station. The south pole could be the right arrow surrounded by something. But according to the picture above, it could be on the left. The small difference like this might not matter.

The wintering team might spend Christmas and New Year here? It could be OK since it is bright at this time. I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year! For all readers too!

Christmas Tree

Found a cool Christmas decoration. The open structure of the cottage might be cold, but it could be wormer when many friends gathering together.

I am at the top to measure the height. 25m, that could be the maximum of fir trees

This is the biggest tree I ever saw, at the November Festival at Edo. The building next to it was the Kanda Shrine, made of more than 8.000 prims. On the right, there was my Temi’s Tee House. The Edo castle was spread in the next four SIMs. On the left, there was a stage where the Japanese singer, Ichikawa performed live music. On the right front of the tree, there was an archery contest facility. Good old days….

The biggest one in RL might be that at the Rockefeller Center. The height is 25m, weight of 12 ton! The star at the top is Swarovski, weight of 400kg. It is said that there are more than 50.000 LEDs,.

This is the tree that I have been using from the start of SL. It is an excellent one, with only one prim and working as a snow machine. Unfortunately, it cannot be stretched.

There were beautiful white trees at the Norh Pole, where I will visit next.

Ski in SL

In the last article, I said that SL ski cannot equal to the gaming machine, but it is possible to ski in SL.

This is an animation I used many years ago. It is possible to make slalom, downhill, or jump, but it does not move itself and it is necessary to control with directional keys according to the animation. But it is possible to fly, or to ski in the sky by adjusting hoverheight.

Spread eagle, that I never did in RL. I can jump as the above, but this one is scary.

It moves according to the directional keys, so it is possible to ski on a flat surface or uphill, also on ice.

Together with a skater. Actually, ski edge does not work at all on the ice, so you will fall down when doing this pose. The skater seems floating, maybe the hoverheight was not adjusted.

The stage this time was a cool village in a valley. This is looked down from a hill surrounding it. The slope on the left is the area where I shot SSs. It is possible to ski down all the way to the village. You can ski on the cliff in front.

Cozy chairs and lodge on the lakeside. Different from other towns, some peoples are getting together.

Old articles for skiing. I noticed that I had skied several times in SL. My photo technique seems to have been improved a little since then.

Christmas

I tried to find some busy area, that could be shopping arcade, but nobody was there.

A small village with many candies, only a deer standing.

There are many Russian dolls. Different from the many dolls I saw at Halloween, it is not scary to be with so many of them.

Together with the mom, the role model for countermeasures to the falling birthrate. I wore Japanese princess dress.

There are many small fairies. They look nude. I wonder what kind of fairy these are.

Penguins paying in front of an igloo, which has a pose ball inside to relax.

Last but not least, myself relaxing on a silver forest net, but that is an art in the campus of UWA.
