From Japan to SL

The UWA Century 3D Art Challenge is now in the presentation stage. All 90 entries are on display at UWA Challenge Gallery. The finale will be 6AM SLT, Sunday, 5th August.　　There is also L$10,000 Audience Participation Event. Everyone is asked to view the artworks and name the top 10 artworks in order of your preference and list them in e-mail or a note card and send it to Jayjay Zifanwe, with your name on the title of the note card with the words UWA Century 3D Audience Event. This is not a popularity vote. The three participants whose order comes closest to the final order decided by the judging panel will win L$5,000, 3,000, and 2,000 each. The first prize winner will be invited to be on the panel for the next art challenge, and all three will receive a special package including a copy of the book, 100 Treasures of UWA. “Zoea Larva” by Yooma Mayo. Zoea Larva is an animal now known to be the larva of a crab. I thought it was an imaginary shape as “Cerulean” by Bryn Oh, but this is similar to the real one.




“Children of the Abyss” by Farstar Enoch. This could not be a real one, or…




“Ariadne Spinning The Universe” by Fuschia Nightfire. This was not set in a dome, so I derendered surrounding objects one by one.




“Sailing to the Moon” by London Junkers. Translucent objects provide special feeling of SL. My gallery building is also using such material. In my case, that was the only way I was able to do.




“The Geometry of Flux” by Cajska Carlsson. Lines and balls are moving in a dark space. There could be some random factor and there is no fixed pattern which made me watch for a long time. The many balls give me a depth feel.




Different from a simple Lissajous diagram, the ever changing pattern is beautiful! I wish I could have this for my screen saver.
